Workshops on biosecurity have been held with livestock farmers

20 November 2025

Last October, UAB researcher and professor Alberto Allepuz organized a series of workshops on biosecurity for livestock farmers. The workshops were held twice, in Vic on October 9th and in La Seu d'Urgell on October 16th, and both reached their maximum capacity. In both locations, participants engaged in discussion groups focused on sharing experiences regarding the application of disease prevention measures on ruminant farms and identifying what would be needed to implement such measures effectively.

The aim of these workshops is to provide recommendations on practical biosecurity and to discuss what solutions and initiatives should be implemented to overcome the challenges associated with applying certain preventative measures. Biosecurity is a key and indispensable factor in protecting livestock from diseases such as tuberculosis, which we are investigating in Innotub II. Dissemination of this information is also one of the objectives of this project.

These workshops also have an educational purpose, aiming to disseminate the research carried out by Innotub II to the public. Along these lines, a workshop dedicated to disease prevention in livestock farms was held last February.
